…People have been saying Jesus is coming for the longest time…er, well…at least since the Jesus movement of the late 60’s and early 70’s, especially when Hal Lindsey’s book The Late Great Planet Earth took the world by storm.

But is there really an objective and concrete way to know if we are close to His return? A few years ago I would have said, eh—maybe, but we’ll know for sure when it happens. Today, I would answer with a resounding, YES! We absolutely can know the season and when we are getting close—like probably in-our-lifetime close! Jesus himself told us to watch for the signs (Luke 21:36, Matthew 24:42, Matthew 25:13).

Jesus said, “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” Luke 21:28

He also said—speaking about the generation that sees Israel become a nation again, “So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.” Matthew 24:33-34

And Paul said that Jesus’ return would catch the world by surprise like a thief…but for believers he said, “But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.” 1 Thessalonians 5:4

I’ll admit, if you haven’t studied this subject in depth for yourself, that notion sounds a little crazy. If you are not a Christian and/or haven’t been convinced that the Bible is God’s word, that notion sounds a lot crazy. So, how can we know if the Lord’s return is near?

I have written about the signs and the convergence of signs previously on this blog and I have a chapter in my book covering one particular sign in depth—a sign that proves we are nearing the end of this era known as the church age, or the age of grace.

Today I came across this EXCELLENT article that effectively captures all the the key details of this one sign. So what is this one undeniable sign of Christ’s soon return? The Nation of Israel. PLEASE read the whole article. It’s long, but 100% accurate and worth the read. Israel’s regathering, becoming a nation again, and many other details scream at us that we are deep into the end times.
