We’ve been talking about the importance of noting the central figure in the book of Revelation—and the Bible. The Lord Jesus Christ is the golden thread that runs through the pages of Scripture from cover to cover.

The opening verse of Revelation and the initial vision of the glorified Christ in Revelation 1 affirms this fact, as do many other scriptures such as Luke 24:27 which reads, “And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself (emphasis mine).

Genesis 3:15 is one of those verses that sends shock waves through the canon of Scripture on multiple levels. There we read, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

In that verse we discover the first prophecy of the Savior, then here in our discussion of Revelation we find him finishing his work and reigning as King of kings and Lord of lords. The pages between Genesis and Revelation connect all of the key scriptural themes to Jesus—the anchor point of the biblical narrative.

The book opens with the revelation of Jesus, and crescendos with John’s stunning vision of the glorified Christ! As we look at different aspects of the book of Revelation in the next couple of months, let’s keep in mind that the single most important focus of the book is Jesus!

Let’s tether our hearts to, and lock our spiritual eyes on the risen, glorified Christ. Revelation reminds us that he is King of Kings, and Lord of Lords! It should give us great encouragement to know that as the world seems to fall apart around us, God is still on the throne! He is perfectly in control of where this is all headed. And he is in perfect control of the details of your life as well.

There is a tension between God’s sovereignty and man’s free will/responsibility, but that is ok because we are not God! Trust him today—fist with your salvation, then with the details of your life.
