Top 5 Things To Keep Your Eye On In 2018

When it comes to discerning the times, we have been given a watch that serves as an indicator of where we are on God’s prophetic timeline. In this analogy we find that the world is the watch face, Israel is the hour hand, and Jerusalem is the minute hand (and some may assert that the Temple Mount is the second hand).

With that in mind, here are the top 5 categories I’m personally keeping an eye on in 2018. As you scan through these, be sure to read the conclusion regarding something that is far more important than all 5 of these! Also, note that I’ve used 100% mainstream secular sources to back up my analysis.

#1 Creation’s Groaning

See Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24-25, Mark 13, Luke 21)
Even secular news sources and mainstream media recognize the unprecedented number and severity of natural disasters the world experienced in 2017 (see first link below). I won’t recap them here, but the article is well worth reading. Scripture teaches that natural disasters will serve as birth pains—increasing in frequency and severity—and these convulsions of nature provide a major sign of the end-times and the nearness of the rapture and the tribulation period. I suspect that 2018 will continue this pattern with more record-breaking natural disasters (and already has with the Bomb Cyclone that hit the Northeast and the terrible mudslides in southern California—and we’re only 10 days into the year).

#2 The Three Amigos (Russia, Iran, Turkey Alliance)

See Ezekiel 38
The “key three” continue to tighten up their partnership to deepen their influence in the middle-east. Russia, Iran, and Turkey have fallen like consecutive dominos into the alliance foretold in Ezekiel 38. The recent riots in Iran and reports of thousands of Iranians becoming Christians, makes it seem there is a time-stamp on current conditions. The partnership as it stands now has a shelf life so to speak. This early tribulation period war casts its shadow ahead of itself as these three unlikely partner countries continue to take their end-time positions.

#3 America

See Ezekiel 38-39
Based on Ezekiel 38, it seems that the US, England, and Saudi Arabia will have been weakened (unable to do more than protest the attack) by the time of the Ezekiel 38 war. It’s interesting that just as of last year Israel, the US, and Saudi Arabia have formed an alliance against the Iranian Axis’s chess moves in the region. I believe the US will be crippled primarily by the event of the rapture itself (and not an earlier financial collapse).

See Matthew 24:37-39
Scripture also indicates that the world economy will be surging at the time of the rapture, but at the same time—it will be one global disaster away from collapse. Ten years ago this would have seemed contradictory, but it is the exact condition we see today. The world’s super power has an economy that is surging with no signs of letting up. At the same time, it’s debt has never been higher. The economy of the world super power continues to break records, as does it’s debt—tracking perfectly with the end-time conditions that are forecasted in Scripture.

#4 Seventieth Anniversary of Israel’s Rebirth

This May, Israel will celebrate her 70th birthday as a reborn nation. 70 is a highly prophetic Biblical number and also happens to coincide with many prophetic implications that are ramping up as of late. In Matthew 24 it’s indicated that the generation that sees Israel become a nation again will be the generation that sees the Lord’s return. Psalm 90:10 gives us the best indication for the duration of a generation as 70 (“or if by strength 80”*). This is a somewhat mysterious and veiled reference (and not all prophecy experts agree), but I believe it has prophetic merit and it is quite amazing to me that every related end-time sign (Ezekiel 38 alignment, activity in and around Damascus, Israel thriving, etc.) is converging at this time. The next year and/or the next decade promise to be quite amazing in terms of fulfillment of Biblical prophecy.

*a Biblical generation could also be 100 years (Genesis 15:13-16), or possibly even 120 years (Genesis 6:3).

#5 The World Community Fixated on Tiny Jerusalem

Jerusalem is a mere 48.3 square miles and is of no natural globally-impactful consequence (such as NY, DC, LA, London, Beijing, or Moscow), yet the whole world seems fixated on dividing Jerusalem and making it a focal point of world politics. On January 15, 2017, 70 nations stood against Israel in the Paris Peace Conference. Then to round out the year, on December 1st, the UN approved 6 resolutions disavowing Israeli ties to Jerusalem, then another one after President Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. The resolution rejecting Trump’s declaration had only 9 countries of the world vote against it. Interestingly, just a few days later, yet another archeological discovery demonstrated the reality that Jerusalem is tied to the Jewish people in factual history.

In Zechariah 12:2-3 we read, “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves.”

The world nations may not realize why they are lining up against this tiny country, but Zechariah 12 gives us the clear answer. Keep a close eye on this in 2018 as the wheels were clearly set in motion throughout 2017. Again, the 70th anniversary will be a key factor I believe. This prophecy will find it’s ultimate fulfillment at the Armageddon campaign at the end of the tribulation period, but the stage is being set before our eyes as tribulation events cast their shadows ahead of them.

In 2017, there were also key developments regarding the Jewish preparation and desire to build a 3rd temple in Jerusalem (something that prophecy tells us must occur by the mid-point of the tribulation period). It’s as if everyone is on the starting line waiting for the gun to signal the start of the race!

Above all of these prophetic indicators, I’m keeping my eyes on Jesus. I’m keeping my spiritual eyes on him daily as I deepen my walk with the Savior. I’m also, keeping my eyes up, anticipating the rapture in obedience to the following scripture.

Luke 21:28
“When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.

As I’ve demonstrated above, “these things” have all begun to take place. Look up, but don’t stop working. We don’t know the day or hour, but we are instructed to watch and pray and we are expected to know what season we are in. We are also told explicitly that we can “see the day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25). It could be that the Lord delays (and every day he does, thousands of people in the worlds darkest corners are being saved—see links below), and we must live like he’s coming today while we plan like he’s not coming in our lifetime. It’s the healthiest, most Biblically-correct way to live.

Let me know what else you are keeping your eyes on in 2018. I love hearing the perspective of other believers who are watching and praying for the Lord’s return!

  2. Excellent work, Todd! Thank you very much! I’m posting this to my 2 timelines on Facebook, and also on one page, and 4 groups. I’m hoping and praying for a few hundred people,to see this. God bless you, brother! 😇. 🙏. ✝.

  3. Here at my things to watch for; Mathew 24:9 THEY WILL DELIVER YOU (Christians) UP TO TRIBULATION AND WILL KILL YOU; Mathew 24:13 WHEN YOU SEE THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION (the antichrist is on the earth and in the temple); Mathew 24:29 after the tribulation of those days the sun will be dark; the moon will not give its light Etc. Verse 30 is when the rapture will take place; AFTER THE ANTICHRIST IS IN THE TEMPLE

    • So you think mid tribe is biblical and NOT pre trib? Other references so I can check. Studying prophecy since Sprung if 1976. Thanks have a very great day and year. Looking forward to seeing you when Christ calls us home!!!!!!

      • No I hold a pre-trib view of the rapture. I think the Bible is very clear about that. The temple must be built sometime between now and the mid-point (3.5 years in) of the tribulation when Daniel informs us that the anti-Christ will set up the abomination of desolation in the temple. Thanks so much for sharing. God bless!

  4. Nobody yet has been able to persuade me from the scriptures why they think that the Merchants of Tarshish are Britain and therefore the ‘young lions’ are America – at best it is seriously tenuous, at worst very misleading. As far as God is concerned from my reading His Word from cover to cover for the last 42 years and studying it Jerusalem, therefore Israel, is the centre of the world. America and the UK just don’t come into it at all. I do feel it is rather arrogant of any Brit (of which I am one) or any American to believe that their country just has to be in the Bible, why? The Bible is not about the greatest country in the world at any given moment it is about the Son of God and redemption, first the Gentile and then the Jew.

    • Thanks so much for sharing Julia. I agree wholeheartedly that Israel is the center of God’s activity and the apple of his eye (as explicitly stated in Scripture). I’m not dogmatic about Tarshish being Britain and the young lions being America and other locations initially colonized by Britain. But, I will say that from the bit of study that I have done, I’m convinced that Tarshish is Britain (vs. Spain as some suggest) and that her “young lions” would logically be younger countries that stem from Britain. Space does not allow for a full explanation here, but as you know entire books have been written about the subject. Again I’m not dogmatic about Britain and America being veiled in Ezekiel’s account, and it doesn’t impact any overarching/major events of the rapture or the tribulation period either way—but it is my personal conviction based on much study and prayer that Britain and the US are in Ezekiel’s account. Thank you for sharing and thank you for your interest in Bible prophecy! Your Friend In Christ, Todd

    • Dear Julia, I’m myself currently leaning a lot about the promises to Ephraim and Manasseh (which I could never quite “categorize” as a tribe) and about the lost 10 tribes of Israel. Please check out some resources here: (they are pentecostal but have some good resources on natural and British Israel, just check out) (“America and Britain” by Philip Neal)

There are certainly more resources but to begin with these they are not bad.

As a German, I couldn’t even think of the fact that my nation would have some “genetic” connection to the ancient Assyrians from ‘far Middle East’ but it very much seems they do. Considering that, it helps me to better understand certain characteristics, their role in world politics and their involvement in specific historic events such as 2x world wars and the Holocaust. It makes sense how God describes it in the bible.

Much love and blessings to you!

    • Hi Julia. Here is a reading from Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” Remember that the very first several thousand believers in Yeshua (Jesus) were Jewish men, women and children and then the Gentiles were grafted in. While the followers of Jesus were all collectively dubbed “Christians,” the Apostles, all Jews, would be have been considered “Messianic-Jews” along with the Jewish population of believers who accepted Christ as their Jewish Messiah. The Bible further states that upon coming to faith in Christ, one is really no longer Jew nor Greek (Gentile) for we are all the Children of God. “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:26)

No more distinctions. We can say that we are the Children of God through our New Testament faith in Jesus Christ / Yeshua Ha Mashiach . Pretty neat, right? 🙂

  5. Thank you for the encouraging updates and posting the respective scriptures with them.
Saturday mornings are definately listening time. Podcasts are great.
Again, thank you and your staff and guest speakers.
    Sincerely, Elaine

  6. GREAT read! Thank you for the Biblical references, I think that you are spot on! I am one that believes we Christians that reside in the US of A will be gone before the Ezekiel 38 war is attempted. In my mind, we have to be, as we are allies of Israel, we would naturally step in to protect and assist Israel. I think God wants it to be known that GOD and GOD ALONE is the protector of Israel in this instance. I, for one, will be glad not to have to face the tribulation that is coming. I am glad that we will not have to face the wrath of God. Such exciting and scary times to be living in! Yayness! He will be calling us home soon!

  7. Dear Todd my brother in Christ, I’m just being notified by Brad from rev12daily.blogspot to read your article – Thank you indeed, those are the main issues to watch in 2018 to me as well! As I’m now very much watching out for the “other sign” in heaven (Rev12:3-4) after verse 1 was literally fulfilled in space on 9/23/2017 once in a 7,000 years as a kind of ‘first trump’ in the camp to wake up and gather the church for our soon departure I suggest this to add it on your list. If you like just check out this stunning video as an example (there are many others watching but these are always good catches by EXPITALY) for how this celestial “red dragon” and his heads look like from Spain right now in a live webcam recording from 1/11/18:

Greetings from heavily chemtrailed Germany (to block the view but we’ve got some pretty good webcams in the mountains too) YSIC Annabelle

  8. Thank you Todd,
Lord bless u and keep u as you share the good news. Yes He is coming and we must look up while occuping till His arrival. Great writing …that ponpoints to the current affairs of a fallen world . Most importantly, you directed Christians to the word of God.
Most important for me is watching Israel -noting their alliances that are contrary to God’s word and the assembly of nations against them. I t is a matter of time
    From Rev 12 group. marantha

  9. Love your user-friendly blogsite. There’s no question that the signs are getting clearer, yet most of my brothers in the faith are just dismissing everything. Sad.

    • Thanks Ray. Many prophecy student experience the same. I believe God has each of us strategically placed for a special time of need. Stay strong and be patient my friend. Thanks for chiming in!

  10. Outstanding article, Todd. I have been studying biblical prophecy for a long time, and your thoughts are spot on. It’s an exciting time for those of us who are watchful.
I’m saddened that so few are aware of the many signs that are coming together simultaneously. We cannot set dates, but we have every reason to be excited that the translation of the church is “at the door”. Christians must be especially vigilant that our hearts are right with Christ, and urgent in being a light in a very dark and sin-infested world.
God bless you and the work you do for Christ.

  11. Mr. Todd thank you very much for this article. Your message was biblical and obedient to God’s Word. As many of us fellow Christians have been anticipating our Blessed Hope returning and we know what’s going on prophetically is exciting and weary at the same time. I’ve been at the edge of my seat for six years as God continues to write the headlines. We see many signs today that are showing us we are at the threshold of the Tribulation, so how much closer are we to going home to heaven our real home. When I see how close we are to being a cashless society and coming around again to having the Fall Feasts fulfilled by Jesus’ second coming. We see the season approaching again especially this year of 2018. We know by Scripture that the Tribulation will commence around the Fall Feasts, but the Rapture we don’t know the day. There could be hours to months in between the Rapture and the beginning of the Tribulation. The players are all there and being set up for Ezekiel battle and God being a God of numbers, we have our 50th, 70th, and our 120 Jubilees since Adam. I look forward to your future articles.
